Abstract :
A directly modulated 1.55 μm 77-channel AM-VSB video lightwave EDFA-repeatered long-distance transmission system that uses split-band and wavelength division multiplexing techniques is demonstrated for the first time. A high system performance CNR=48 dB is achieved with CSO/CTB values >71/60 dB over a conventional singlemode fibre of 110 km. Sophisticated external modulators, SBS-suppression, differential detection, and/or dispersion compensating methods are not required. This technique is suitable for analogue CATV long-span supertrunking applications
