Abstract
A new interferometer system is described for dynamic measurements at the head/disk interface. Two measurement spots allow the characterization of the spacing variation between slider and disk as well as of the pitch and roll motion of the flying slider. Actual disks and sliders can be used with parallel or non-parallel reflective surfaces. The noise level in a measurement Is less than 2 nm, the bandwidth of the system is DC to 1 MHz
