Abstract
This paper studies the failure mechanism of the interface between clock head and disk during servo-writing. Analysis and the results of experimental investigations indicate that the installation error, crack and edge break-off of slider´s air bearing surface, and significant contamination build-up are the main factors which lead to the failure. An electronics setup is also developed to monitor the interface status and prevent catastrophic disk crash
