Abstract :
A technique based on double-sideband transmitted carrier amplitude modulation is presented in this study to characterize the laser texture on a magnetic disk. This method can be used to accurately determine the laser texture zone locations, circumferential and radial pitches, and frequency components. It is easy to implement, fast to characterize a surface, and has up to sub-micron lateral resolution. Laser texture is also characterized by using a profilometer, and the frequency response of the laser texture can be predicted well using the profilometer results
