Abstract :
A method for measuring track widths of narrow track tape recording heads for use in track misregistration models is reported. The method involves using the azimuth displacement technique with prerecorded metal particle tape to acquire crosstrack and erase profiles of read and write elements in the recording head. A signal to noise ratio analysis is then used to obtain values of track widths that can be used directly in a track misregistration model
