Abstract :
A generalised approach to model bridge converters for dynamic simulation is presented in this paper. Any degree of complexity in valve representation in a bridge converter topology can be handled with ease. It is possible to interface this model to a parent (host) electromagnetic transient program, and a method of interfacing to the EMTDC program, in particular, is described. The capability of the model is illustrated through simulation of HVDC converters, where the performance of the proposed model is compared to the EMTDC performance for the HVDC CIGRE Benchmark model
