Abstract :
A major challenge facing non-cooperative Primary Surveillance Radar (PSR) is performance impact as a result of interference due to wind turbines. By using a staring array and advanced signal processing techniques it is possible to reliably distinguish the unwanted turbine returns from the wanted aircraft returns allowing a clear non-cooperative picture to be presented to downstream systems and the controller display. The paper will briefly describe the technical solution using a 3D staring array and how it solves the problem and present the results from field trials of the system.
