Abstract :
The paper presents a harmonic-analysis treatment of induction motors having stator windings which cover only a fraction of the total periphery. The treatment can be applied to machines having the remaining section of periphery either a complete magnetic circuit fitted with a short-circuiting grid or an open magnetic circuit. The rotor electrical circuit can comprise either a conventional squirrel cage or a wave winding, and a full treatment of both is included. Experimental evidence in support of the method is included for both types of rotor.
