Abstract :
Experimental and simulation results on ridge waveguide InGaAsP DFB MQW lasers with tilted stripes with respect to the gratings is presented in this letter. It is shown that in addition to the lasing wavelength, the coupling efficiency (/spl kappa/) is also a strong function of tilt angle. This results in a higher threshold current and a smaller stop-band width, and limits the maximum wavelength tuning range that can be achieved using this scheme.
