Abstract :
The question whether the output of the multichannel median filter should be one of the input vector samples is addressed. While the output is normally one of the inputs in the single-channel case, engineering it to be so in the multichannel case is found to lead to significant error in a large proportion of instances, a situation that should be avoided without good reason
