Abstract
Disasters are rare but inevitable events. Because of the pivotal role communications plays in our private lives, business dealings, and national security, the ability of communications networks to quickly recover from disasters is imperative. This article will highlight the need for emergency preparedness, discuss several key actions needed to properly prepare for an emergency, and cite a recent example of industry´s efforts to anticipate and prepare for an emergency situation.
