  • Abstract
A solution, which is believed to be the most general available, is presented for 3-dimensional, eddy-current fields in the presence of cylindrical boundaries. Additionally, new solutions are presented for Laplace´s equation containing terms previously unknown. Both these solutions are very widely applicable. One important application is to problems involving rotating harmonic fields of the type which is common in electrical machines, and, in the paper, the general solutions are reduced to the forms appropriate for the treatment of this class. More particularly, a solution is obtained for the general study of eddy-current distributions in permeable conducting cylinders of finite length.
