Abstract :
An approximate method is used to calculate the resistance of a circular cylinder with current entering by a concentric circular electrode in one plane face and leaving by the other. Evidence is given suggesting that the values found are highly accurate. The resistance of any cylinder with a step in the radius can be deduced. The results are important in electric-contact theory; the method may be generally useful for resistance problems with mixed boundary conditions.
