Abstract :
This paper presents the requirements for addressing in an ATM network and describes the different addressing formats adopted by the ATM Forum. It explains the use of addressing from the perspective of end users, enterprise network managers and service providers. Finally, some basic guidelines for selecting an ATM address plan are discussed.
