Abstract :
A fully integrated tunable high-quality-factor bandpass translational tracking filter (TTF) for Digital TV tuners is presented. The center frequency and bandwidth of the TTF are determined by LO and capacitor arrays, which are fully tunable. The TTF has multiple signal paths and LO phases to boost the blocker attenuation and harmonic rejection. Without any calibration, the TTF achieves >40dB blocker suppression at >180MHz frequency offsets and >68dB harmonic rejection for all harmonics. Implemented in a 40nm CMOS process, the noise figure and IIP3 of the full tuner are 4 dB and -30 dBm, respectively at the highest gain setting while dissipating 50 mA from a 3.3V supply.
