Abstract
The paper describes the determination of second-order information measures of digitally encoded video signals. The signal is converted into digital form using a p.c.m. encoder, and its second-order statistics are determined by simple processing of the binary output digits. The results are presented in the form of redundancy and entropy measures for up to 5 bit quantisation and include intermediate, coarsely quantised cases particularly relevant to picture-data-transmission applications.
