Abstract
In this paper, we present a uniform Electronic Product Coding (EPC) scheme to identify IEEE 1451 compatible transducers in Internet of Things (IoT) applications. IEEE 1451 is a series of standards that support plug-and-play smart transducers to fulfill standardization of legacy sensors and actuators. EPCglobal has released a collection of specification standards, known as EPCglobal architecture framework. There are three layers are included in this framework such as identify layer, capture layer, and exchange layer. The identify layer gathers and processes the raw data of identification from interrogators and tags. In IoT applications, the versatile data such as tags and transducers must be taken into consideration. In this paper, we focus on the issue of how to make a consistent expression of raw data gathering from different data carriers. This work applies the uniform EPC scheme - Serialized Global Trade Item Number (SGTIN) to represent the IEEE 1451 compatible transducer. By integrating the raw data of transducers to the identify layer of EPCglobal, we can process more versatile data of IoT applications. This mechanism plays a fundamental role to add transducer capability to EPCglobal architecture framework.
