Abstract :
This article gives counterpoint to the rapidly changing scene in the electricity supply industry in the ´western world´. The supply of electricity in ´sunny countries´, that are euphemistically known as ´developing´ countries, is discussed. These are countries that tend only to find the headlines in newspapers and on TV if there is a war, natural disaster or insurrection. But they are also the kind of countries that have demanded the attention of a large number of engineers and others who, over the years, have been determined to provide affordable and reliable electricity within those countries.
