Abstract :
This paper presents a restart recovery protocol for page-server systems. The protocol is based on the ARIES recovery algorithm, and it deals with transaction aborts and system failure. In this protocol, client transaction aborts and rollbacks during normal processing are performed by the clients themselves in order to offload the server, while the server performs the restart recovery after a system failure.
