Abstract :
Artificial wide-band coloured noise is used in the analysis of digital synchronous transmission systems. A new method of generating coloured noise using a synthesis filter bank is proposed. The power spectral density (PSD) of the coloured noise generated by this method is step-shaped, but its time deviation (TDEV) can be tailored to any smooth curve specified by ITU-T. Owing to the high generation efficiency, the proposed method is suitable for practical applications
