Abstract
Image processing technology has recently been used for gesture recognition, face recognition, object tracking, augmented reality, 3D robot vision, and object modeling. Detecting object velocity is crucial to image processing research. This study used a webcam as experimental equipment and designed two main processing modules, an object detection module and a background measurement module, to estimate the velocity of an object. The experimental results showed that the proposed method can be used to effectively estimate the velocity of an object with an average error of less than 6%.
