Abstract :
The paper deals with the analysis of a general 3-phase 6-terminal network suitable for providing at its output the positive- or negative-sequence component of the input voltages. Criteria are produced for the operation of the network. Conformal maps are included showing (a) the influence of the network components on the output voltage of the unloaded network, and (b) the influence of the balanced load impedances upon the output voltage. These maps are aids in preliminary design studies. An optimum design is included for RC networks having resistance loading, which is particularly suited for a sequence wattmeter. This is advantageous in that the sequence-current segregating network is avoided. The method of optimising the RC network can be extended to inductive loads.
