Abstract :
New power electronic-based home appliances are gaining acceptance because of concerns about conservation and environmental protection. A common characteristic of such appliances is that they are harmonic sources. The adequate modelling of these appliances´ harmonic-producing characteristics is essential for assessing their collective harmonic impact on power distribution systems. A method to obtain harmonic models for power electronic-based home appliances is presented. The method is developed based on the measurements of the appliances to be modelled. The recorded data of voltages and currents are used to estimate the parameters of the harmonic model. The accuracy of the proposed method is verified for compact fluorescent lights and computer loads.
