Abstract :
We propose a novel technique for reducing optical beat interference in passive optical networks. The feature of our approach is the use of an electrical technique, namely, code-division multiple access. Our experiments to confirm the effectiveness of the technique revealed a 13.5-dB improvement in the bit rate of 10-Mb/s signals for a 10-km transmission compared with those of digital baseband systems without the technique.
