Abstract
The perfectly matched layer (PML) seems, to date, the most interesting type of absorbing layer used for the truncation of infinite domains. Besides numerous numerical tests of the PML, relatively few analytical studies were proposed until now, in the case of homogeneous layers. This paper presents some results in the case of non-homogeneous PMLs obtained by analytical means. The theoretical results in the continuous case are then compared to the concrete ones, obtained in the discrete case of a computer implementation of such an absorbing layer
