AIEE and IRE boards move toward consolidation

President Warren H. Chase of AIEE and President-Elect Patrick E. Haggerty, Jr., of IRE at the AIEE Fall General Meeting in Detroit discuss plans looking toward consolidation of the two Institutes. Dr. Haggerty reported to the AIEE Board on October 20 that the IRE Board had two days before unanimously approved a resolution to proceed with merger studies. The AIEE Board also approved unanimously. The Resolution calls for the formulation of specific proposals on which each Board and the membership of each society must take action as required by their constitutions and charters.
