  • Abstract
    Laboratory-measured dielectric property data and related electromagnetic wave propagation parameters are reported for a broad range of soil textures. The dielectric permittivity and phase velocity are shown to be very strong functions of volumetric soil moisture. A polynomial model for predicting soil moisture from permittivity measurements at 100 MHz is presented
