Abstract :
The simulation of balanced and unbalanced fault tests on a 120 MW turbogenerator using digital-computer modelling techniques is described. A comparison of results obtained using two different generator-data sets is given, one derived entirely from machine tests and the other calculated from design information, supplemented by measured values of damping resistances. The computed fault curves obtained for both data sets are considered to be adequate for transient-stability studies, although the `calculated¿-data set gave the closest agreement to the test results. For representing pole-slipping tests, an extension to the quadrature-axis representation is recommended, but studies are limited by the availability of data.
