Abstract :
For a dielectric material, it can be proved that the change of permittivity between two frequencies f1 and f2 is given by ¿¿¿/¿¿¿1.5 tan ¿ log10 f2/f1 subject to certain conditions. Many published results, for diverse materials and frequencies, conform to this equation, even when the therotical conditions are not met; but, at microwave frequencies, there are many discrepancies, possibly because the published measurements are in error. An equation of similar type describes the effect of change of temperature.
