Abstract :
A model of the secondary-surveillance-radar environment of the United Kingdom has been constructed. All interrogators and details of their pulse recurrence frequencies, aerial patterns and power levels are included in this model, which is used to produce contour maps of interrogation and side-lobe-suppression rates and estimates of reply probability and round-trip reliability. The results are compared with the small amount of available measured data. In the paper, the effects of variations of transponder sensitivity and interrogator output power are demonstrated, and group capture and interference effects are discussed
