    AIEE Standards Pamphlet No. 1A entitled “General Principles for Rating of Electrical Apparatus for Short Time, Intermittent, or Varying Duty,” recently was issued in report form for study and comment. In this article, the chairman of the committee that prepared the report discusses its significance, for the purpose of stimulating discussion of this important topic.
