Abstract :
A control scheme utilising an online minicomputer that performs in real time the complete control of a generating unit is outlined. A part of this scheme relating to the speed-control aspects is described in detail. Analytic techniques particularly appropriate for discrete systems are invoked for analysing the real time digital governor. Design and test results of two versions of the digital governor are also described. The performance of the device has been exhibited in both open-circuit and synchronised tests.
