Abstract :
The paper proposes a technique for scheduling generation maintenance based on the frequency and duration method for reliability evaluation of power systems. The method permits the weekly risk created by removing units from service to be minimised and allows all practical constraints imposed on the system to be included, and, if necessary, continuously updated. In order to maintain high computational efficiency, a new approximate technique applied to the frequency and duration method is proposed and the errors introduced by it are assessed. Finally, a typical generating system is analysed to illustrate the generation-scheduling technique and the results are discussed.
