Abstract :
The success of selective-pole autoreclosure is dependent on the reliable selection of the faulty phase or phases, and hence on the discriminative properties of line-protective relays. In this paper, a new phase- and earth-fault distance-protection scheme is described that is arranged to possess improved discriminative properties. The new relays provide coverage during relatively high resistances at the point of fault, and they are compensated to offset the measuring errors that can occur during such faults.
