Abstract
The paper presents the theory of representing the m.m.f. of the linear induction machine windings by Fourier integrals, for both completely-filled and half-filled primary endslot machines. It indicates that these m.m.f.s are composed of forward and backward travelling-wave trains having continuous wavelength spectra and their speeds are unbounded. In addition to these waves, a stationary pulsating m.m.f. wave is found in the airgap of the completely-filled slots machine, which has arisen due to the finite lengths of its stator iron cores, and a new compensation scheme is proposed for this type. The transition from the Fourier integrals to the Fourier series of the conventional rotary machines is also given.
