Abstract :
A new force-commutated inverter circuit is described in which a small transformer is used to separate the commutation components from the main inverter. It is shown that this arrangement has several advantages, particularly at high current levels. The performance of an experimental inverter and some results of a circuit simulation are reported. Finally, some design considerations are derived.
