Abstract
The Weiss-Weinstein (WW) bound is applied to an 8×8 element uniform antenna array, for a single source impinging on the array. The WW bound for this problem is evaluated and compared to simulations of the MUSIC algorithm and classical beamforming. The simulations show that for high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), the WW bound is met by both algorithms; however, the threshold for MUSIC and classical beamforming occurs at a higher SNR than the bound predicts. This suggests the possibility of other spectrum estimation algorithms with much lower thresholds than those currently used today
