Abstract :
In this paper, the Finite-Element Method with weighted extended basis splines (web-spline) is described and used to obtain electromagnetic fields. This new approach is applied to two-dimensional rectangular, circular, and coaxial waveguides. The electric- and magnetic-field distributions of some modes are shown. The approximated solutions of web-splines are compared with the standard Finite-Element Method. It is shown that the web-spline method is a more accurate numerical technique than the standard Finite-Element Method. Using web-splines, better results are obtained with fewer nodes.
