Abstract :
The US Home Team is responsible for the design and fabrication of the inner module for the ITER Central Solenoid Model Coil, to be installed and tested at JAERI, Japan. The design of the coil has been completed and the fabrication is being carried out. In the first phase, all the tooling for the fabrication have been installed, facilities established, process specification developed and materials procured. The fabrication approach will be confirmed by various trials, and fabrication of two full-size dummy layers. Following this, the fabrication of the 10 layer module occurs between June 1996 and December 1997. The paper describes the tooling and facilities, the process and supporting R&D. Progress in the fabrication is reported.
