Abstract :
A method for computing the magnetic field of permanent magnets in the presence of iron cores is described. The method makes use of finite elements and allows for nonuniform magnetisation in the magnet and saturation in the iron if required. Two possible representations of the field in the magnet are compared. Some, simple examples are used in a study of the rate of convergence to a solution.
