Abstract
A novel application semantics based routing algorithm is proposed for wireless sensor networks to prolong network lifetime. The Sink node broadcasts task semantics message periodically in flooding fashion, the inter-network nodes process data at the different application task levels. According to semantic information of application and the node and its neighbors´ status, the node processes data and finds the path to accomplish the Sink task. Qualitative discussion and simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can achieve better performance in terms of energy consumption and energy balance than data based adapted Directed Diffusion protocol.
