Abstract :
A new simple approximation for the K-factor estimator is presented. K is extracted from a measurement of a Rician fading envelope. Its performances are compared with other envelope based estimators, including the analysis of its behaviour with regards to the measured sample size and signal-to-noise ratio. As an improvement, this estimator does not generate any inconsistent results for low values of K.
