Abstract :
Eddy-current losses in the conducting tracks of printed circuit stators of brushless motors may be significant for cases where tracks are relatively wide and speed is high. This study presents a numerical technique to determine printed circuit eddy-current losses. It is based on a hybrid between three-dimensional (3-D) finite-element analysis and 2-D finite difference. The experimentally validated technique is fast, reasonably accurate and its computing resource requirements are very modest.
