Abstract
The insulation characteristics of high temperature superconducting (HTS) coil or winding are significant for their power application, which mainly includes partial discharging (PD), withstand voltage, breakdown voltage, flashover, fatigue effect through thermal cycles and lifetime. In this paper, we focused on investigation of the partial discharging of two HTS DP made of commercial multifilamentary Bi2223/Ag tapes and YBCO coated conductors. PD test was performed in order to ascertain the partial discharge inception voltage of DP in different conditions, which included static and quenching conditions. Experimental results revealed that PD density does not change obviously in different conditions. Useful results with combined conditions for PD characteristics were experimentally obtained.
