Abstract :
This paper presents experimental results from a laboratory microalternator system, illustrating the performance of a dual-excitation synchronous generator at extreme leading-power factors under fault conditions, and showing that it is significantly better than that of a conventional generator. The performance of a dual-excitation generator with a terminal-rotor-angle regulator is compared with that achieved using busbar-rotor-angle control, and with a conventional generator. Experimental results are compared with those calculated by digital computer, using an established mathematical model, and close agreement is obtained.
