Abstract
The author presents a survey of how multiattribute decision analysis and expert systems for decision support have been and can be integrated to produce problem-solving systems that are sensitive to the key role played by user preference in the problem-solving process. The intent of this survey is to provide insight as to how system capability and acceptability can be enhanced by this integration
