Abstract :
This paper discusses about an operating system assisted thermal aware task scheduling method. It primarily shows how the task scheduling decisions of an operating system can get affected if the temperature profile which is generated using the on-chip thermal sensors embedded in the modern processors, is taken into account. A modified EDF algorithm has also been proposed which shows better performance in terms of thermal violations or usage than other recently proposed algorithms.
