Abstract :
This paper presents an obituary of Professor Eric Laithwaite (1921-1997). It states that Eric Laithwaite has been aptly called an evangelist for engineering. Like all true evangelists, he combined belief and practice with an ability to inspire and enthuse others. An overview of his life, his work and his achievements is included.
