Abstract :
This paper describes an example of a channel front-end system analysis, optimizing the number of turns in the write head with flux rise time as the criterion. The scaling with turns of the electric and magnetic circuits that model the write head is described. The write driver transistor areas are scaled inversely with turns. Three types of suspension interconnects (normal, windowed, and copper backed) are examined for various lengths (0-30 mm). For the system under consideration, a three-turn head provided the fastest flux response for all interconnect types. The copper-hacked interconnect showed the fastest overall response, but near the optimum the interconnect showed little effect
