Vision systems have come of age, supporting industries from electronics to materials processing. The author describes two very different applications now bringing real benefits in highly competitive industries. She highlights two prominent manufacturing companies-Lucas Electronics and British Steel-who have bitten the bullet, and found vision to be a straightforward and very useful technology to apply in two very different manufacturing environments
